CEVA will control the inbound logistics for Cummins Generator Technologies in the Bavaria region
FRANKFURT, Germany, 18 August 2008. CEVA Logistics, one of the leading supply chain companies in the world, has announced the signing of a new contract with Cummins Generator Technologies, a world leader in power solutions for the distributed electrical Generator markets - in Germany. A new CEVA Logistics branch office opened in Königsmoos, in the Southern region. The service covers the materials supply of individual parts to the manufacture plant, from the receiving goods department, rationing of the various storage and buffer surfaces, through to the commissioning and sequencing of material, and the supply of individual production stages with shuttle transportation to the plant. With it, Cummins Generator Technologies utilizes CEVA Logistics' entire product range, consisting of sea and air freight and contract logistics.
Two warehouses were made available for Cummins, with 1200 and 1600 square meters of storage space respectively, for warehousing all parts. Eight CEVA Logistics employees, as well as a group from Cummins responsible for quality control, will handle the operations. According to Matthew Gilliver, Materials and Logistics Manager of Cummins Generator Technologies, "It was decisive for Cummins that we work with a reliable logistics partner. CEVA Logistics has created a comprehensive range of services that are oriented to our needs and has supported production at the Ingolstadt location."
"Strategic partnerships gain increasing significance with the tendering of logistics services," Dr. Michael Müller Wünsch, Director ICS and Operations for CEVA Logistics Central & Eastern Europe, commented. "We're proud to have demonstrated our operations excellence to Cummins also in warehousing, after having already maintained intensive business relations with them via our CEVA Freight Management for years. We're happy to having been able to demonstrate that we can deliver our customer promise everywhere they have a need for the right customized solutions."
