Starbucks vehicleIn 2004 CEVA Logistics won the Motor Transport Supply Chain Environmental Award.

In December 2006 CEVA Logistics took a major step forward in its efforts to make the planet greener and cleaner.

Working in partnership with Starbucks and Smith Electric Vehicles, we introduced one of the world's first high performance 7.5-tonne zero emission electric vehicles into service. It operates on our Starbucks contract, making daily deliveries to Starbucks stores in London.

The ‘Newton' model, is the first ever in its class able to compete with its diesel equivalent - but without the polluting effects of ‘controlled' (i.e. nitrogen oxide and particulate matter) and CO2 emissions.

If the green trial proves successful, we will consider adding further zero emission vehicles to our fleet to serve in other urban locations in the UK.

Ian Pearson MP, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, was at the vehicle launch at the Guildhall, London. He said: "I welcome this company's commitment to reducing carbon footprint and this initiative to begin moving away from carbon intensive transport. It is an interesting new development in alternatively-fuelled transport for the road haulage sector and I hope to see it extended throughout their fleet."
